As I daydream about the amazing journey I will be going on in a few days, my attention is continually drawn back to the most overwhelming and difficult task of this experience: packing for a ten-week stay within checked baggage limitations. I should probably get started on that.

Although I have gathered every packing-potential article of clothing and travel necessity into one room, I have yet to decide what goes and what stays. I have not gotten around to this daunting challenge because I have been making the most of the few weeks I have in Houston, Texas before I leave for another great city.

I wanted to make sure I got to spend time with my family and friends first. I had to get a lasting gulp of my hometown before I would say, See you soon. So after enjoying the traditional brunch at Black Walnut with my cousin, the casual trip to Chinatown with my friends, and the Mexican restaurants with really whoever wanted to go (if queso is there, so am I), it’s now time to prepare for London!

I am ready to experience different cultures, challenge myself, and try new things. I hope the outcome of this internship consists of unforgettable memories with new friends and a fresh outlook on the world. Honestly, I’m expecting to encounter the unexpected, which could possibly provide some interesting twists in my future posts!

After studying abroad last year, I am somewhat familiar with London as we had a captivating five-day visit. However, I don’t have any experience in the work-life of London; unless it’s comparable to working as a snow cone vendor at Bahama Mama’s, I don’t know what exactly to expect. Nonetheless, I cannot even begin to express how excited I am to start my internship with PopShack!

PopShack is the fastest-growing music multi-channel network on YouTube. Its lead channel, PopShack TV, features musical artists from all over the world and connects over 550,000 subscribers. This summer, PopShack is having its biggest event yet, PopShack Live, which is a concert featuring bands and musicians including Union J, Loveable Rogues, and Brad Kavanagh who I realized I’ve actually seen on television before.

Handling social media and digital marketing aspects of PopShack is going to be an adventure in itself, and I can’t wait to dive right into the action! I knew PopShack would be an incredible and upbeat place to work from the moment I heard about them; this opinion was sealed after being asked in my interview to name all the members of One Direction-- true story.

Aside from my packing procrastination and reluctance to abandon authentic Tex-Mex for two and a half months, I am ready to begin this opportunity of a lifetime!

Thanks and gig’em!
