Thursday was the start of our weekend because my birthday was on Friday. We went out quite a few times over the weekend; Thursday and Friday were fairly intense, while Saturday was really quiet. It actually surprised me because everyone apparently loves the disco that we went to on Saturday, but no one was really there until 3:30 in the morning, and even then, no one was dancing or talking to anyone they didn’t know. It must have been an off night or something. The music was a little odd, but I still liked it, and it looked like everyone else did, but they just stood in the middle of the dance floor.

Friday, I ended up meeting a ton of random people, and actually, one of them was an alum from my school, which was absolutely crazy to me. Out of all the people in the disco, I met some guy who went to my school. It’s a small world.

On Sunday, I went to watch the World Cup Final with one of my intercambios. As for the game, I thought it was kind of dull compared to most of the games; very little action and even fewer goals. However as for my intercambio partner, he, unlike most of the people I’ve met here, was not “cold”. Most of the Europeans that I meet are a little reserved at first until they get to know you better, but not this time. We met up and five of his friends came to the bar to watch with us. Although the actual game was pretty boring, it was still a great time because everyone was very talkative and fun to be around (although I felt like death due to the lack of sleep). Afterward we went out to eat at some restaurant that was surprisingly American, but at the same time, it was nice to have a little bit of home. Sometimes I just want a buffalo chicken sandwich and some French fries.

On Monday, we went out to dance Salsa and Bachata, and news flash, I can’t dance to save my life, but it’s always an experience so, maybe it’ll be better next time. I don’t know why, but I’m fairly dead set on learning how to Salsa, maybe it’s because I’m so bad at it, but whatever, it’s going to happen. I will make this work even if my dancing rhythm is terrible, which is odd because I play the guitar and piano.

Tuesday I hung out with my intercambio friend from Sunday and some other friends of his. It was a little difficult because I was still really tired (and it’s a lot more difficult, at least for me, to understand Spanish when I’m tired). We went out and ate at an Indian restaurant, which was fairly funny because one of the girls was extremely picky as to what she wanted, and I’m pretty sure that she had a problem with literally every dish she tried. By the time dessert came around, it was hilarious to see the waiters face when she called him over, yet again.

Furthermore, I’ve been cooking a lot more lately-almost twice a day! It’s mostly pasta-based because we don’t have an oven, just a stove top. We can only do so much, but even so, I really love it. It’s a great feeling to be able to cook whatever you want and it’s even more inspiring when you can (and have to) buy your food/ingredients in another language. I’m going to Barcelona again next week! I’m super excited, but already dreading the lack of sleep. Even so, I’m so happy to be going back, although it’ll be for a much shorter period of time, only 2 or so nights, but that’s probably for the best as I don’t think I really have enough energy for more.
