Hey guys, I’m going to try to pick up where I left off… On Thursday, instead of going to the amusement park (it was outrageously expensive), we went ice-skating. On the entire rink, there were at most seven people. We basically had free-reign to skate around and be crazy. We all tried to learn various tricks, some successful, some not, and it was an all-around great time. I was so proud of myself because it was my first time ice-skating that I didn’t fall. Afterward, everyone was hungry, so we went out to get food. Where did the four Spaniards want to go? McDonald's. It was the last place that I wanted to eat at in Spain, but oh well. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t fully enjoy my food. Fast-food restaurants here are known to be of much higher quality than the ones back home, it’s simply no comparison.

The next day we went to the beach and I only got mildly sunburnt; I burn way too easily. Later, I was dropped off at my hostel where I ended up meeting three sisters from Michigan and two Frenchmen. I had a great time with these five. We all clicked so well. We went out for dinner around 11PM (way too late for dinner back home) and ended up having the best meal of our lives. The tapas were mind-boggling and the drinks were incredibly well-made. Everything was just fantastic. I was blown away because it took us forever to get there and there were no tables, or menus, available. The six of us sat at the bar and ordered after the waitress told us what we could have. Afterwards, I ended up heading back and sleeping because I was so tired.

I also showed the Michigan sisters and Frenchmen around a little bit because I lived in Barcelona last summer. I took them to Parc de la Ciutadella, which is an absolutely gorgeous park inside of Barcelona, right next to the Arc of Triomf (See pictures). There is also a nice fountain inside of the park, and if anyone reading this ever ends up in Barcelona, I would highly recommend going to visit. It’s definitely worth it. After playing tourist and tour guide, I met up with one of my best friends from Barcelona. He took me to the small town he lives in and we cooked dinner at his friend’s house. It was wonderful! We made Spanish Tortilla, an Asian soup, and some sort of Couscous. I think we sat around and ate for roughly 2+ hours (typical Spanish meal) and then headed out to a bar for a bit of nightlife.

Now we come to Sunday. And what a difficult one it was. I was supposed to get a car at 12 (via Bla Bla Car), but my driver never showed up. I ended up having to wait around for four and a half hours to take an AVE train (the high-speed train in Spain) back to Madrid. It costs an arm and a leg but I did get home in time for work on Monday, so everything turned out okay. Now I’m back, recovering, and already planning my next visit to Barcelona.

Until next time!
