So this is the second to last week in Berlin and I am really starting to feel it…Three of my co-workers at Fotofeliz have left also. I have one more week left. Work has been really great. I enjoy the people, and after spending so much time getting to know them it's hard to say goodbye. I have made good friends there. This week we went together to watch The Dark Knight Rises at the Cine Star movie theatre at Potsdamer Platz. I am going to miss getting lunch with my co-workers. We have karaoke week coming up soon to celebrate one of their birthdays so I am really looking forward to it.
It was a really nice theatre, though I was not expecting a 15-minute intermission in the middle. It felt like I was watching a play. The movie theatre was in a really nice artistic area. It was under a glass-type dome thing and near a bunch of film and media exhibits. It was a really cool find, and surprisingly a ticket here is cheaper than back home. (At least in Florida.) Speaking of, the Alexanderplatz U2 Station is decked out in Batman swag. I think I heard someone say that the first one (Begins) was filmed here in Berlin but I am not sure. There is a lot of promotion going on for it though.
I went to a couple of parties this week at nightclubs. I went to a party at this club called Cookies, which was pretty posh. People were dressed up really nicely and I felt underdressed. The crowd was definitely mixed…but it was a good time. I urge people to be careful in the Ostbahnhof area in East Berlin near Berghain. A friend of mine was leaving this club called the Fitz Club and he got jumped and beaten very badly for seemingly no reason. He spent the whole weekend in the ER, but thankfully he is okay. I have walked around that area a couple of times and it is definitely sort of creepy…stay in groups. Going to try to checkout Watergate, White Trash, and Berghain again before I leave.
This week I went to some beach club party and it was pretty nice. Although it was awkward because there was just sand but no beach lol. We drank a lot and I was majorly hungover the next day but still made it to work on time and was functional. I have been listening to some German audio tapes lately, since my company is an English-speaking one it's a last attempt to pick up some of the language. I downloaded some FSU German language courses and another one by Michel Thomas. We shall see how it goes. I really do not want to go home yet. I may attempt to stay a bit longer but I don't know if it's going to work out. Here's hoping...Since this very well be my last weekend coming up in Berlin, I am going to make the most of it. Keep posted :)
